Brightview Apartments

The community was designed in a traditional Georgian style, reminiscent of significant buildings in the Annapolis area such as those found at the Naval Academy. The brick-and-cementious-sided structure consists of both a four-story-and-terrace wood frame building and a three-story-and-terrace non-combustible Hambro and metal stud building, separated by two-hour masonry fire walls.

The inside entry features a grand stairway with an overlook and double-height space adjacent to the main lobby. There are full commercial kitchen and full commercial laundry services. Resident amenities include several common areas, restaurants, lounges, living rooms, bars, libraries, administrative offices, and a theater room.

How Harkins Made a Difference

• Brightview Annapolis was the first Harkins project where sheeting and shoring was introduced solely for access and staging purposes, as opposed to property line support typical for urban projects. By sheeting and shoring the terrace level excavation along with the front and partial sides of the building, excavation laybacks were avoided, permitting a second temporary construction entrance. The second entrance allowed building foundation construction to move forward uninterrupted.
