The Harkins Foundation
Harkins has a long history of being a community partner. Our founder, Thomas P. Harkins, and our second owner, Blase Cooke, who turned our company into an employee-owned organization, both held deep beliefs in giving back to the communities in which we live, work, and play. Through their vision and leadership, giving back is an ever-present core value at Harkins. Each year, our employee-owners participate in many charitable events, and Harkins donates a significant percentage of our profits to charitable causes.
We are now very pleased to announce the creation of The Harkins Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that will allow us to take our community service to the next level by raising funds and focusing our outreach efforts. The foundation is directed by an executive board, currently comprised of Harkins employee-owners. The executive board is assisted by an advisory board that informs decision-making.
The Harkins Foundation's first fundraising event will be a golf tournament on May 1, 2023, at Waverly Woods Golf Course, and we are very happy to declare it is already a success. All of the major sponsorships have been claimed, so there will be a significant pour of funds into the foundation. The committee of employee-owners who are organizing the tournament are drawing from years of experience as participants in similar events and are dedicated to making this year's tournament a success.
Our vision for The Harkins Foundation is to grow our philanthropic efforts through fundraising and supporting charitable causes that are near and dear to the hearts of our employee-owners and the communities in which we live, work, and play. We look forward to sharing news of other Harkins Foundation events and initiatives throughout the year and the many ways in which we will be able to further positively impact our communities.
