Assistant Site Manager (Baltimore/DC)

Harkins is seeking an Assistant Site Manager in the Baltimore/Washington Metro Area. This candidate will be responsible for coordinating subcontractor and supplier activities in assigned areas, supervising direct labor, if applicable, and achieving professional and personal growth on each project.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • With guidance from Site Manager or Superintendent, create a schedule for assigned area and assist in the construction of the master project schedule.
  • Basic ability to maintain safety and cleanliness throughout assigned area(s).
  • Manage assigned personnel, if applicable, and provide a positive work environment for professional and personal growth.
  • Basic ability to read, understand, and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, contracts, and other documents.
  • Basic knowledge of AIA contract documents and Contract Documents for the project.
  • Basic knowledge of material control and company policies and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of all construction trades, including surveying and engineering procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of cost accounting systems and company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact and communicate professionally and ethically with all parties associated with the project.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Two (2)-year college degree and some construction experience (i.e., field experience, internship, etc.) or two (2) years of equivalent work experience in construction.
  • Ability to lead assigned team members and monitor their work for quality and completeness, fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional and personal growth.
  • Basic knowledge of estimating, scheduling, budget/cost control, negotiating, field supervision, and financial reporting.
  • Basic organizational, leadership, analytical, and communication skills necessary to organize resources, including people, materials, equipment, tools, and time to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired results.
  • Basic ability to read, understand, and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, contracts, and other documents.
  • Ability to calmly and professionally assist with resolving or escalating issues with subcontractor or other third parties in a timely manner.
  • Basic knowledge of AIA contract documents.
  • Familiar with construction management software, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Procore, and other web-based or mobile document and project management solutions.
