Those who have toured or visited this beautiful new assisted living community say they feel like they are at a resort. This Assisted Living and Memory Support facility for Fauquier Health System is located on three acres in Suffield Meadows, an established residential development for adults 55 and older. The two-story building has 56 assisted living apartments with kitchenettes, and eleven Memory Support suites. Memory Support units are located in a secured wing with its own pantry, country kitchen, dining facility, fireplace, and gated courtyard with fountain, decorative concrete patio, and lush landscaping.
The brick veneered building is two stories at the rear and one story at the main entry level. The Hambro floor system and metal roof trusses are supported by 6″ metal stud bearing walls and steel beams and columns. Site work included relocating existing utilities and working around a pump station. Construction of site retaining walls and building foundation walls was done in phases due to extremely tight site conditions.
How Harkins Made a Difference
- The project experienced inclement winter weather that caused a 50-day delay in the first 100 days of the contract. Despite this and other hardships, the project was completed on schedule (including time extensions).
