IT Intern

Columbia, MD
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide first-tier Help Desk/technical support to Harkins’ users via telephone, Teams, email, and in-person, including:
    • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues and escalate complex problems to senior IT staff when necessary.
    • Assisting Harkins’ users with login issues, password resets, and account management.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks in Microsoft 365 environments, such as Azure/Entra, InTune, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Manage user and device accounts in on-premise active directory and Microsoft Entra.
  • Perform the application of security patches and application updates to Harkins’ devices.
  • Support the deployment of new and upgraded computers and other devices to Harkins’ employee-owners.
  • Assist with hardware inventory management.
  • Maintain an innovative attitude, always looking for new and improved ways to achieve Harkins’ mission.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Has or is working toward a Four (4)-year bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, science, math, or related discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbally and in writing).
  • Team player willing to assist others as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems effectively, thoroughly, and efficiently.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and OneNote), Procore, Bluebeam, Adobe, and SharePoint on Windows-based systems.
  • Basic knowledge of computer science/information technology and security principles, practices, procedures, and applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion when working with the organizational data and information.
