Overlook at Monarch Mills is a 45-apartment independent senior living building in the heart of the Monarch Mills garden apartment community. It is designed to serve seniors who prefer a dedicated, elevator-served building.
Monarch Mills was a partnership development project between Howard County and Shelter Development to revitalize a 1970s community in Columbia, Maryland. It included construction of 269 new rental apartments that provide a mixture of multi-generational and mixed income units. A clubhouse with swimming pool is one of the amenities available to all residents, including those in Overlook.
Overlook meets Green Communities standards, and green features include geothermal wells and high-efficiency lighting fixtures. The overall project was the recipient of the 2012 Maryland Governor’s Award for Commitment to Excellence in Rental Housing.
