Quantico Student Quarters Certified LEED Silver
Harkins Builders is pleased to announce that a design-build project recently completed at The Basic School at Marine Base Quantico has been certified LEED Silver. The project, known as Student Officer Quarters P-546 & P-547, comprises two four-story buildings that provide housing for 516 Marines undergoing officer training at The Basic School. Construction elements that earned points toward the certification include construction waste management, recycled content, regional materials, environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) control and construction IAQ management plan during construction.
Architecture for the design-build project was by Stanmyre + Noel Architects of Reston, Virginia.
Harkins previously built two similar student quarters buildings at the same location, as well as a 74,000 sf instructional facility with administrative offices. Harkins’ current project at The Basic School, a 31,000 sf dining facility, is expected to be complete in April of 2013.
