At Harkins, safety is the primary component of our growth, success, and well-being, and we are committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees, subcontractors, and suppliers. As a company, our safety record has steadily improved, positioning Harkins as one of the top building contractors in safety administration. Our commitment is detailed in our Comprehensive Safety and Loss Control Program, which was specifically designed for our normal operations, and is founded on the belief that all accidents are preventable. Three general principles guide our leadership in safety:

  • Heightened Awareness is an absolute requirement, and we achieve this by formulating consistent safety policies and procedures for operations and field personnel throughout all business lines.
  • Improved Safety Training and Personnel Development will allow us to develop a safety culture that becomes second nature for our employees.
  • Best Practices Sharing among business units with regard to safety issues plays an important role in achieving consistency and improvement. As we develop new procedures, we will revise our manual to ensure the effective transfer of knowledge.

We know that our accomplishments result directly from the efforts of all of our employees working in concert toward the common goal of a safe, incident-free workplace. Together, we will continue to achieve results and be identified by developers as their contractor of choice.
